As the sun rises on 3018 the premier leaders (all female) of 180 planets of the universe congregate at Sayuri Jima off erstwhile Japan. While they bask in the first rays of the dawning sun they plan to resolve the ever so famous disputes of the Domestic goddesses. It is often also referred to as the Expedition Terra Pura. The representatives of each party are making perfect valid points while the universal congress all try to patiently listen on. The matter at hand is simple; the warriors of Claro had been chosen to protect the universe from impurities and were the fore runners of Expedition Terra Pura.

The mission was not for the faint hearted. All inhabited planets were to be scanned and sterilized of any impurities that may cause harm to the living beings present on it. The warriors would be sponsored for their acts and also duly rewarded for their actions. Meetings were held, Teams assigned to various planets and a mission plan was set. But the Claro, true to their kind, repetitively missed milestones. At times they even self assigned a proxy team to fulfill their duties. But alas, as usual the Expedition rarely saw a fruitful end. The Planets now lacked the needed upkeep and failed on most sanitary checklists. The universal committee of domestic goddesses was in an uproar. This had to end! If need be a special ceremony would be performed to please the Claro gods. Terra was not Pura and that was just not working out. Despite continuous efforts changing of schedules and reassignment of planets hardly any alliances seemed to be in sync. Every time the matter was brought up earlier it could never be discussed peacefully. There was screaming, shouting, and the blame game never ended. In the last congress a proposal had been put forward to increase the funds assigned to the Claro Warriors, but that too saw no positive result. It was turning into an intergalactic catastrophe. The genteel discussions had turned into a mudslinging yelling match. Many universal leaders were now on the verge of declaring war on the Claro. But the Claro Warriors just looked everyone smug in the eye and didn’t budge. They knew that the planets depended on their kind to fulfill these missions and they were not going to bow down to any authority. Helpless and fed up part of the congress now proposed to try to send their own teams on Expedition Terra Pura. This new change in attitude didn’t go to well with the Claro and a sense of madness started arising from their stands. Suddenly! A bright flash lit up the entire congress, and that’s when I woke up.

It was still 2018. My maid was still missing and this, was perhaps the hundredth time in the past six months that my house had missed it’s much needed cleaning. Tired of the repeat absences I was obsessed with finding a new housekeeper or just getting used to doing it all myself. If nothing else my few years abroad had at the least left me with great cleaning, mopping and laundry skills. This constant buzzing in my brain has taken over most of my thoughts much so that my Sci- Fi loving brain was dreaming of a planet of maids that too did not keep up to their promises in the distant future. Sigh! I pray for every woman that needs to deal with a busy life and the added duties of maintaining their households. I’m willing to give this in writing; even if we women do take over the universe, our households help will still be making us cry.

My go to recipe for a yummy cheesecake! You can switch the blueberries for other berries or fruit. Use Sugarfree sugar substitute instead of sugar. Do your own thing!

I prefer using a food processor as everything is so much neater  you can do the same or beat it in bowls.

The video recipe is below too! Enjoy!!

1/2 packet digestive biscuits
2 tablespoons butter, melted
2 tablespoon sugar
240gm cream cheese, softened
1 cup castor sugar
3 eggs
250 ml fresh cream
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Juice and grated rind of 1 lemon
1 cup blueberries

Blend the digestive biscuits in a food processor till fine. Add melted butter and sugar and blend till mixed. Press into bottom and up sides of a 8 inch cheesecake pan (free bottom). Bake at 175*C for 5 minutes. Remove and let cool.
Blend softened cream cheese and add 1 cup sugar. Add eggs, one at a time and blend.
Add fresh cream, vanilla and lemon rind and juice. Blend on low. Gently stir in blueberries. Pour mixture into cooled crust.
Bake at 160*C for approximately 50 minutes. (Cheesecake will be done when it still jiggles in the middle.) Turn off oven and let remain in oven with door open for 20 minutes. Remove and let cool. Cover and chill cheesecake in refrigerator.
Refrigerate for at least 6 hours before cutting.
Note: Refrigeration time is not included.

it’s summer and we all crave refreshing desserts. Here is a cool super easy dessert. For you to try. Do share your attempt with me.

* 1 envelope unflavored gelatin (about 1 tablespoon)
* 2 tablespoons cold water
* 1cup heavy cream
* 1cup coconut cream
* 1 cup half and half
* 1/3 cup sugar
* 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
* 1 teaspoon coconut flavour
* Watermelon, thinly sliced (paper thin) 1cup. Keep chilled.
* Dessicated coconut

* In a very small saucepan sprinkle gelatin over water and let stand about 1 minute to soften. Heat gelatin mixture over low heat until gelatin is dissolved and remove pan from heat.
* In a large saucepan bring cream, coconut cream, half and half, and sugar just to a boil over moderately high heat, stirring. Remove pan from heat and stir in gelatin mixture coconut flavour and vanilla. Divide cream mixture among eight 1/2-cup ramekins and cool to room temperature. Chill ramekins, covered, at least 4 hours or overnight.
* Dip ramekins, 1 at a time, into a bowl of hot water 3 seconds. Run a thin knife around edge of each ramekin and invert ramekin onto center of a small plate.
* Top with thinly sliced watermelon lightly dipped in desiccated coconut and serve.

Doing food right: The Mamagoto way

I had the opportunity of eating at the Mamagoto outlet at the DLF Mall of India in Noida recently, and must say I was thoroughly pleased with my visit. I’m one who doesn’t really play favorites but Mamagoto has always been my go to place for eclectic fresh modern oriental cuisine.

I was pleasantly surprised by the new additions on their menu in all courses. the highlight of course was the wonderful staff and their perfect service.

Since we were all flexible eaters we let the floor manager surprise us with the menu choices. Unfortunately we didn’t eventually try out too many of the shell fish dishes as one of us was allergic.

I would rave about a singular dish but the entire experience was wonderful. The coolers left nothing to desire, the starters were tasty and flavorsome, the dim-sums perfect! The highlight was the Smoky BBQ Pork Belly Bowl. Each piece of meat perfectly cooked. The seasoning and flavors all in place.

I guess one can’t but have a great time when presented with a perfect combination of ambiance, food and service.

Don`t talk to me about goodbyes,

I`ve seen much more than my share.

Don`t throw at me your pretty lies,

I can`t do this anymore.

Don`t cry for me your stories,

Sleep will win over now.

Don`t call out my follies,

Who knows how long I`d last this time.

Don`t carry for me my burdens,

Let`s not weigh you down so.

Don`t lead me into a corner,

I`ve walked these roads before.

Don`t watch me as I walk away,

There is no turning back now.

Don`t hate me for my choices,

I knew no better then.

Don`t follow it all so blindly,

There`s always another way there.

Don`t just don`t anymore,

Trust me, we`ll figure this one out.

Dear R

Was it difficult to find me? I saw that you did come knock on this door. Was it worth it the trip down these alleys, that lead you to this chaos that is me? I am here to answer this call and look at you in the eye for hours at end. But tell me, is it me that you found or just the feeling that this was what you had come looking for?

I try not to sound selfish but I can’t give too much away. I know this is a trip I want to go on but don’t know if this is how it’s meant to be. I feel what the world calls sadness, but deep inside it feels so much better. You can’t understand the bad if good hadn’t existed for you. If I understood your words truly, then I’m glad you didn’t say anything of that out loud. Because yes, I’m selfish, and I’d like to keep it all to myself. They talk of songs and poetry, but I’ve seen words dance in a way unknown. I find myself gloating that I could understand it, without you saying anything at all.

I hope you can feel me, feel each word say what it is really doing here. The movements the vibrations, the dance around reality. Come lets read, reading you reading me. No it’s not over, it never is. I am a storyteller, each and every part of me. But I guess you knew that from the start.

Waiting to start it all over again.

Worth it?
